Kerri Kane– Vocalist/Harmony
Kerri is the founder and creator of Waunakee Project Brave/and the Project Brave Band. The band was created in 2021 after a group of community members came together to bring light during a traumatic season. The Waunakee community had lost several people to suicide, mental health and drug realted incidents over the years. Kerri believes you can be healed by bringing things to the light by speaking out and being BRAVE “Broken To Brave’. If you know Kerri you know she wholeheartedly believes in family, fatih and friends. She has recently started a WPB spring support group that meets weekly. When Kerri is not spending time with family or working on Waunakee Project Brave, you will find her helping educate and assisting her real estate clients with building, buying and selling homes!
Shekinah King – Lead Vocalist/ Keyboards
Shekinah King singer, Songwriter, Keyboardist, and solo artist, lead vocals for Madison Based Blues band Alpha Romeo, and Lead vocals for the Waunakee Project Brave Band. Shekinah King released “I Got it From My Mom” in May of 2022, on all major streaming platforms, and a music video to go with it. “I Got It From My Mom” won the 2022 Madison Area Music Awards pop song of the year. Shekinah would rather be singing than almost anything else. Growing up in church cultivated a deep love for music and a passion for what she does. You can find her singing and pursuing what she loves throughout Wisconsin, Iowa, and Illinois. She pulls inspiration from a wide variety of musical influences. People often compare her voice to Pink, Kelly Clarkson, or Adele. Shekinah performs over 1,500 songs from many decades and genres as well as some originals. She is currently recording her debut EP which will be released in 2023. You can find Shekinah King in your favorite wineries, bars, restaurants, churches, and special events singing her heart out and putting a new spin on your favorite tunes.
Mark Kane – Male Vocalist/Sound Engineer
Mark is the newest member of the Waunakee Project Brave Band. Mark serves as the band sound engineer and has recently taken on WPB’s male vocalist role. Mark comes from a very musical family. Growing up in the Green Bay area near his grandparents “Kane” family farm. While Mark was growing up you could find him and his parents singing at their kitchen table. Together, they would sing while both mom and dad played along with the banjo and acoustic guitar. Mark left home to pursue a career in engineering in Madison at Wisconsin School Of Electronics. He is the VP at LW Allen Inc. He is married to Kerri, WPB’s band manager; they have four amazing children together and reside in the Waunakee school district.
Kurt Quickle –Lead Guitar
Kurt was born and raised in a small town in Illinois called Streator. He started playing the guitar in 1983. He majored in music for a few years at Southern Illinois University, where he studied classical guitar. After college he joined the United States Marine Corps. He and his family settled in the Madison area in 1999 and has worked for the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) since moving there. Scott founded the classic rock band “The Retro Specz” in 2010 and continues performing with them all over Wisconsin. Kurt has a huge passion and love for music and never passes up the chance to perform whenever given the right opportunity. Kurt has played for North Ridge church for the past several years. His most recent commitment is taking on lead guitarist with the Project Brave Band in 2022!
Scott Mooney –DRUMS
Scott has been the owner of Milios in Waunakee since 2015, but has worked for the company since 1991. His grandfather, father and brother all played the drums, so he has had sticks in his hands since he was 2 or 3 years old, he has two nephews that play as well. Waunakee Project Brave is important to Scott because he has lost several people in the prime of their lives to suicide or overdose including members of his Milio’s team. He has also had people in his life that were on the edge of that fate, found help and because of that, they’re thriving.
